Aura sent 20 service providers through the 13 week Qnity for Teams ‘Growth’ program, and the final results are in! Read below for a summary of results and a few thoughts from the Aura leadership team.

The Goal:
  • 17% increase in total sales for each participant (compared to the same time period last year)

Final Participant Results:

  • 70% of participants increased 17% or more in Retail Sales (14 of 20)
  • 65% of participants increased 17% or more in Service Sales (13 of 20)
  • 65% of participants increased 17% or more in Total Sales (13 of 20)
  • New talent at Aura were fast-tracked for growth, and succeeded!

Aura’s Enterprise Growth:

  • 23% increase in Total Sales over 13 weeks (all participants combined, compared to the same time period last year)
  • $74k in additional incremental revenue

Shaina experienced 88% growth in total sales from her baseline

Growth Stories (for both new & seasoned talent!): 

  • Shaina is a brand new stylist and in just 13 weeks is now producing at the level of a master stylist. She finished the challenge with 88% growth in Total Sales and 100% growth in Retail Sales! 
  • Chelsea is one of Aura’s most seasoned stylists and is seeing similar growth. She finished the challenge with 67% growth in in Total Sales and an incredible 118% growth in Retail Sales!

Leadership Development:

  • With the support of Qnity, two Master Stylists (Jessica and Joey) were promoted into leadership roles.

Melissa Edwards, General Manager at Aura Salon says, “They (Jessica & Joey) have really grown into their leadership positions as a result of this challenge and especially with the assistance of Qnity, which helped us to outline the process and how to actually help them move into these roles. The support of Qnity has been immensely helpful.”

  • Leadership became stronger within the salon and communication improved with participants, which resulted in greater staff engagement.

Qnity Ambassador, Jessica Donmoyer has been practicing the act of tracking her numbers with the Tuesday Tracker for the past four years. Donmoyer says, “It’s really exciting to see everyone engaging with it. We could not have done this without Qnity coming on site.”

  • Aura Leaders report a better understanding of goals and numbers with their younger staff

Melissa Edwards, General Manager continues, “As a leader, you know very clearly what grows your business. But for us, we now have a very young team. Before Qnity, the team was aware of numbers, but I had to explain the numbers to them 15 times. i.e. – ‘what pre-booking means,’ etc. Now, we are keeping it simple by looking at two numbers; client count and average ticket, and they are actually getting it! So giving them a simple system, ‘hey guys, your client count will increase if you are pre-booking’ – it just makes sense to them.”
Added incentives: 

  • As a result of the increase in sales, Aura’s business owner is able to provide incentives to reward and encourage performance- one example is a raffle for high end educational events

Enterprise Growth year over year:

(2014/2015) – 22.63% in total sales and 16.75% in total guest count

(2015/2016)- 25.19% in total sales and 17.62% in total guest count

(2016/2017) – still seeing growth 4% in Total Sales and 3.12% in total guest count

Expansion: Became a multi-location business with addition of 2nd location

Leadership Development: Both Melody (Director of Operations) and Kippin (Director of Lasting Impressions/Master Stylist) have continued to develop as leaders, both leading the Qnity in-house education program within their business

New Hire Training: With Kippin as the in-house Qnity Trainer, they are able to take new hires through Qnity day one to fast track growth

Low Turnover: With Qnity education engrained in Davanti’s culture, they are making it a great place to work and seeing lower turnover

Melody shares, “When we first decided to go to Qnity, trying to get everyone on the same page to drive our business as a whole was our main driver. Once we were able to get EVERY single person to go through the Qnity program, it was like a light-bulb went off for everyone.

We went through Qnity in March 2015. Prior to that, we had a year over year monthly growth of 9% in January 2015 and 2% in February 2015. For the month of March 2015 after we went through Qnity, month over month saw 20% growth! We finished year over year 2014/2015 at 22.63% growth in total sales as an entire business. Total guest count for the entire salon was up 16.75%.
By the end of 2016, total sales growth year over year was 25.19%, which is over the already awesome year we had in 2015, and total transactions were up 17.62% as an ENTIRE COMPANY. It’s almost impossible to maintain growth like that, and 2017 we kind of leveled out, but we still grew 4% in total sales and 3.12% in transactions.”

Aside from the numbers, there’s also other benefits for leaders. Kippin says “my favorite part of Qnity, especially now that I’m growing more into a leadership/management role, is that it bridges the gap between owners/management and stylists. It helps stylists connect more to the growth of the business and have a personal stake and accountability in that growth. Especially with the younger generations, intrapreneurship* gives them a purpose within our business while allowing them to still have a life outside of work. Qnity helps keep my staff engaged and gives me the tools to help get them get back on track when they fall back a little!” 
Melody continues, “When I look back at the numbers for my enterprise, it’s undeniable to say that it was because of Qnity. To see this kind of substantial change, to see double digit growth, month over month, year over year – it’s INTENSE. We have now expanded into a multi-location business, and now bring our people through the Qnity system on from DAY ONE through our in-house Qnity Trainer, Kippin. Everyone now understands what they need to do to grow as an individual. Three years after practicing Qnity religiously as a company – we continue to see growth and engrain it within our culture.”

My favorite part about Qnity is the sense of “family”. That unity paired with business using whole brained thinking and training techniques I think can transform the workplace into something everyone can connect to.
I know among the Directors on our team we frequently reference “4 times 4 ways” from Qnity. We try our best to communicate in way that everyone will understand and retain information to get best results from the team.

I am excited to implement  further all of the tools Qnity has to offer. I am more conscious on how others understand and how I can connect and inspire others! We haven’t completely launched the whole program to all of the team as of yet, however, I can already say personally I have used it in my life to plan event and teaching my daughter how to organize priorities!

Qnity education was an indescribable experience! The way I was able to connect to the information was gratifying. It is like the perfect blend of salon reference, business, accounting, and creativeness. I felt engaged, motivated, and empowered to conquer almost anything!

I plan to use my knowledge from Qnity as an opportunity for continuous learning. Being supported by others that use Qnity I think will help catapult ideas on how it can specifically be used in the Institutes (schools).
